Operational amplifier tester Electronic kit

Function:

This kit is a module that allows you to easily and quickly distinguish good operational amplifiers from defective ones.

The tester is designed for testing single, double and quadruple operational amplifiers (hereinafter OA).

Description involvement:

The circuit diagram of the tester is shown in Fig. 1. The tester contains components that together with the tested OA form a multivibrator.  The output signal from the multivibrator is current amplified by a pair of transistors and fed to two LEDs. If the OA is OK, the multivibrator oscillates and the diodes

they flash alternately. If it is defective, no LED, or only one is lit permanently. In order to be able to test without complicated terminal switching single, double and quadruple OA, the tester contains three sockets for connecting OA and a total of seven identical circuits of multivibrators with

indicator LEDs that are connected to each OA in each socket. In IO1 we can test single OA, IO2 double

and IO3 quadruple.

Build description:

The printed circuit board pattern and component layout are shown in Figure 2. The components needed to assemble the device are divided into five groups:

1. Resistors and capacitors, 2. Transistors, 3. LEDs, 4. Integrated circuit sockets, 5. Switch. Solder the components in that order, but only after soldering the two wire jumpers, which are made from resistor leg offcuts..

Commissioning:

Check the correct soldering of all components. If everything is in order, clean the board from soldering residues, eg with alcohol. 

Into the IC sockets insert the relevant OA. Switch S1 switches the supply voltage ± 5V.  

Measure the current on both rails of the power supply, which should be around 50mA in the positive rail and about 30mA in the negative. If everything is OK and the LEDs are flashing, the device is ready for use.
